The Zomatix Grooves !!!
The concept is simple. To compose one
of these it took me aproximately a minute, drums included, perfection
isn't the goal, spontaneity is, so sorry for all the klonks and other horrors.
My favorites are in big. A filmed sample (QT 3.0) of number 114. Topped by a delirium (QT 3.0). Starting with number 256, the grooves get more complicated, actually one recording was made with two grooves recorded in parallel (I jump from one sample to the other while recording) but played serially (one after the other). Between 275 and 280 (included), my bass was hospitalized, time to take an old chunk to play (a customized headless Washburn Bantam). From 281, the plastic surgeon tremoloed (a nice Kahler tremolo bridge) the bass body of my Warwick. Finally, everything stops after 52 weeks (the 23rd of february 1997) to let place to some other experiments online (Zand ô Matic Songs). The constraints, we always need some, where : a real time loop sampler MIDI synchronizable and layerable (Lexicon's JamMan), an effects box for those sounds (Korg's A2), a wah to scream in despair ;-) (Boss' PW1), a drum machine to consolidate (Roland's R8) and last but not least a single bass (Warwick 4 strings, 105 85 65 45). The picture of the gear. Aha, except for the first one, where there is a aha. The monsters who gave me the this bass hunch... are Roger 'Genius' Nelson, Darryl 'Maestro' Jones, Les 'Wooeey' Claypool, Jaco 'Big' Pastorius, John 'Wiz' Scofield. And if you want to comment this site, wanna jam some time or use some of the grooves: z_bassist@hotmail.com |
